PERSONALITY
Apepi is calculated, goal-oritentated, and a trained machine. Underneath the surface, they are also nervous, easily scared, and uncomfortable pretty much… everywhere. They're a nervous dog who's been trained to bite. Yet, they still find joy in small things that the army once took away from them. Travelling new places, meeting new people (as weird as they might look to him), and generally having experiences outside of his enlisted job.
Though Apepi is still learning not everything is danger like what once was drilled into him, their fight or flight is still "fight." They stand their ground, whether vocally or physically, and let it be known they're willing to hold down in a fight.

BACKSTORY
Apepi originates from an unnamed, tree-covered planet. Their species is essentially a parasite to the roots of the gigantic trees--burrowing in, taking their electricity, and stealing their water through the trunk. Their planet was visited by a privitized army, MOSAIC, scavening planets for new war machines.
This under-developed planet did not have any, but Apepi held their ground when the troop landed and spiked out like ferrofluid in many directions--an evolutionary trait of their species. The crew were impressed that they had not found complex machinery or blueprints that would set their civilization forward hundreds of years, but a perfect, flesh weapon. Apepi was soon captured and served many years in the army before going AWOL.
Apepi lived a solitary life for a bit, before meeting Ming, his now partner and shipmate, and his friends Sydney, and the crew of the UMDS-1.
RELATIONSHIPS
Ming is both Apepi's best friend, and romantic partner. No two people so incredibly different have ever been able to get along this well. They balance each other out in a perfect way; Apepi worries, Ming soothes. Ming wants to redecorate the whole ship, Apepi gives her the currency to do that.
Ming is the biggest thing keeping Apepi going. She's so kind to them, they can't believe angels are real. She gets them out of the house when brooding, and takes them to worlds they've always wanted to visit. And all she has to do is sit there and look pretty while Apepi dotes over her and takes so many photos they line up his bedroom walls.
Sydney is one of Apepi's closest friends. They were definitely enemies to friends. Apepi hated her weird looking face, and Sydney hated his alien being. The two when back and forth for a long, long time until they came to a common ground. They both miss home. They both feel lonely. They're more alike in personality than they'd like to admit. "Hey… maybe… we'd get along?" And they did.
Apepi spends his free time with Sydney going out and doing menial bounty hunting for currency, but she always makes it feel fun.
Anemoia still freaks Apepi out, but they consider him a good friend. Anemoia was a stepping stone to learning that not everyone different is weird, though Karma has definitely had to step in and stop Anemoia from taking blood samples of Apepi. Anemoia and Apepi have good riffing and banter, and Apepi would like to think they work well together as a duo.
Karma is the person Apepi is closest to from the UMDS-1. She's kind, thorough, and well rounded person with hobbies outside of bounties and work. He kinda looks up to her, she's who he'd like to be. Apepi enjoys spending quiet time with her, interrupting every now and then to ask a question to receive a wise answer.
